| 10 - You vigorously deny the existence of thousands of gods claimed by other religions, but feel outraged when someone denies the existence of your god. |
The reason is, that I don't understand, why anyone should adore 5 or 10 little gods out of thousands and not one great God instead of thousands of little gods. |
imhc(hristian)o there can't be "more gods"...
the word "god" implies that ther's at most one (if at all)...
anybody who say's "there is only one god" tells nothing else but a tautology
furthermore, any christian who tells you that you should't pray to "an other god" can't be a real christian...
THERE IS NO "OTHER GOD"
ther's only god, nothing more, nothing less
my2cents
EDIT: on top of the 10 commandments there is written "dont have any god besiode me"... this should be understood as an image (metaphor) for all the things which are adored nowadays (e.g. money)

The point is, if it's all a matter of interpretation, who is the one to pick the right one??? Isn't a religion then a very individual thing, which can't work in a group??? |
It's an act in concert.
It's the Magisterium (teaching office), that interprets the Bible in accordance with what has been handed on to it by tradition; and it's the Church (the 'whole body of the faithful') that perceives and keeps these truths all together, and will all together not err in matters of belief.
What could I know better than millions and millions of believers that were thinking about it again and again since about 2000 years?

You mean by being interpreted by the Magisterium an interpratation becomes truth????

and will all together not err in matters of belief.
|
Why??? It's still humans interpreting the bible. And just because they claim to have the right to teach the word of God???

If any great scientist had thought like that, and if everybody thinks like that, there couldn't be any progress!!! (Or why should Galileo have watched the stars???)
Well, i guess, it's just you're opinion or you're always in danger, to be manipulated.
Remember, it's not all facts, but the church is telling you, it's all facts (or at least most of it)!!!

You misunderstood what I wrote.
I meant: It's the whole of all faithfull, that will not err in matters of belief - and it's the Magisterium that teaches.
It's the orchestra that makes the music, and it's the Magisterium that conducts, so that the music will not turn out to be caterwauling and infernal row.
The composition itself is 'written' by God.

Oh no! We didn't discuss about science, did we! The Magisterium doesn't teach astronony, but it teaches the Christian belief.
How do you think that there could be a progress in belief?
Concerning astronomy, the Magisterium had to find out how to interpret the Bible ("
Sun, stand still..."), after astronomy had found out, that the earth encircles the sun.
The reading will change a bit, but the truth will be the same.

| no sweet-talking christian will ever convince me that the ancient torture-instument with that ugly dead body pinned to it is a symbol of divine love |
To me it's not a dead body, but a suffering man, looking down from the cross all ower the world, full of pity, understanding everything.

| ...do they really think if jesus ever comes back, he wants to see a cross? |
(I' ll try to translate: ) "...Then I saw a new Heaven and a new earth. I saw the holy town Jerusalem like a bride, who dressed herself for her bridegroom. Then I heared a loud voice shouting: "...He will wipe all tears from their eyes, and there will be no more death, no sorrow, no pain and no sorrow..." (Ap.21, 1-4)
That's why I believe, that there will not be any more cross for anybody. |
exactly the above mentioned "sweet talking"...

I wonder whether there are similar lists of questions for other religions?
